I've been looking for a good persimmon bread recipe and have found only a few, but they call for the other squishy variety, not the crunchy Fuyus that we have. So, we've (okay, I've) been eating them straight up and enjoying each bite.
On the west side of the house, we planted some rose bushes that are starting to take off. They are so fragrant and beautiful. I couldn't resist--I had to take a few cuttings. It makes me smile to see them on the kitchen window sill.
Now the lemon verbena and rose-scented geranium have some colorful company.
I just love living in Southern California. Where other parts of the country are starting to turn to snow and potted trees begin to come indoors to avoid the frost, we're enjoying glorious 70 degree weather, sunny skies, blooming flowers, and happy citrus trees in our gardens. I can't wait for ripe oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and kalamansi (calamondin)............
